How to start Learning Astrology?

The importance of astrology is known to many of us since time immemorial. In fact, in the ancient days, no auspicious activity is undertaken without astrological auspice. If this is missing, then a suitable alternative is selected.

In the earlier days, is so happened, that one would check the almanac or Panchang for the auspicious time. A Panchang is a set of 5 aspects that provide the Tithi, Rashi, Nakshatra, Yoga and Karan for a particular day. Thus, the importance of astrology started from this and evolved towards prediction and giving future analysis to the native.

However, this evolution would have not happened if the Hindu scholars not recognised Astrology as the eyes of Vedas. This is well documented in the Puranas. Thus, the importance of Vedas is seen in the Dvapara Yug of Mahabharata.

In fact, the great Mahabharata did not initiate unless, Karna from the Kaurava’s requested, Sahadev (a great astrologer of his time) from Pandeva’s to decide the date and time to start the epic 18-day Mahabharata battle. It is well documented in Bhagawada Puran, that the great Sahadev was the only other Pandava who knew the future of battle, other than Arjuna. It was on the telepathic advice of Lord Krishna, that Sahadev did not reveal the outcome of the battle, until otherwise enquired by anyone.

Thus, there are many such evidences to suggest that Astrology has been learnt and practised in the Vedic days of living and people took the benefit of the same from time to time.
