How to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi at home?

When among Hindus we talk of Lord Ganesha, there is a special importance attached to the divine almighty. As Hindus, believe the lord Ganesha is the obstacle remover in all walk of life, with out his grace or blessing, nothing is likely to move ahead in auspicious manner. Therefore, the reverence toward lord Ganesha has been from time immoral.
This has been a practise for the past thousands of years. Since, our great rishis (sages) recognised this and have continuously followed the path where they worship lord Ganesha first before undertaking any important activities. In fact, it has been well recorded in our Puranas, that Rishi Veda Vasya, who authored Mahabharata, requested lord Ganesha to write his dictation. This was to ensure that there is no error in the recording of the epic war, Mahabharata. In that era, sage Veda Vasya could not think of any other alternative but requested lord Ganesha to write the same. Therefore, it is no doubt that lord Ganesha plays a very important role in our life.

Now, every year, Ganesh Chaturthi Festival celebration takes plays on the Chaturthi tithi of Bhadrapada Hindu month, Shukla Pakshami fortnight and ends on the Chaturdashi, which is the 14th day of the fortnight. Therefore, during this 10 days, Ganesha Chaturthi puja is undertaken with high and pompous.
This year, the religious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi 2018 would be fall on 13th September and shall end on 23rd September 2018. The 14th day or the tithi of Chaturdashi Must coincide with the end of the Celebration.
How to Celebrate Ganesha Chaturthi at home?
Though the celebration of this festival originally started form the state of Maharashtra, slowly its importance spread all over the country. Today the festival of Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated even in the Fast east of the country along with Northern and southern part of India.

The festival beings almost a month before the actual tithi. Where a small idol of Lord Ganesha is booked and later bought home on the Chaturthi tithi, by the native. Sometime, one can see, that these native would decorate their house and provide a small home like provision to the Ganesh idol.

After brining the idol of lord Ganesha, the native would follow the rituals such as Pranapratishhtha and Shhodashopachara (means ways to pay tribute) are observed with great reverence.
Then mantras are chanted soon after. This is followed by distribution of Prasad in the form of Sweets and Modak. A Modak is especially prepared for the puja using rice flour or wheat flour by mixing coconut, dry fruits, condiments and jaggery. This ritual is followed twice during the day. Ones in the morning and then in the evening. Towards the end of the ritual, Aarti is performed to the Idol. The Aarti is followed by chanting the follow mentioned shloka.

Once Aarti is performed, then too some Prasad is offered as a significance of devotion.
Thus, the ritual is continued in the similar fashion until the 10th day. Then the idol is immersed into the sea of water body. Thus, the native would ensure that maintain some discipline until this 10 days. Such as they would not eat non-veg food and some go to the extent of observing fast throughout the 10 days.
