Retrogression of the planets is a common phenomenon and every planet in Vedic astrology except the Sun and the Moon go retrograde every now and then. However there is a specified cycle of retrogression of the planets and the duration for which they get retrograde is also fixed. The shadow planets Rahu and Ketu always move in a retrograde motion.
First of all we would like to mention-
“Retrograde movement is a time of reflection and somewhat erratic activity — not necessarily the doom and gloom that we assume it to be. If put to use appropriately, we may bring major changes in our lives that will affect us for years to come in the most wonderful ways.”
You may talk to astrologer to use the retrogression of planets in the most amazing way to enrich your life.
It’s a new year, and you know what that means — there’s a new cycle of Mercury retrogrades for us to get through. The planet of intelligence, wit, communication and writing skills i.e. Mercury is getting retrograde on January 14, 2022 and lasts until February 3, 2022 in the signs Aquarius and Capricorn for the first time in the year. Mercury retrograde re-enters Capricorn on Jan. 25, making us look back at the story from the end of December and beginning of January.
We have witnessed the chaotic times in 2021 during retrograde period of Mercury. So, it is important to understand what exactly we may expect when the Planet of Communication moves backward in the year 2022.
What Is Mercury Retrograde and What Does It Mean for You?
Three- four times a year, the planet Mercury appears to travel backward across the sky. We refer to these periods as times when Mercury is in apparent retrograde motion or simply Mercury retrograde. To the best astrologers, these times in particular are associated with confusion, delay, and frustration.
What to expect from Mercury retrograde?
The backward spin of the planet of Communication always sends us into a tizzy.
- We have to struggle with technology
- Think, undelivered messages and love letters
- Delays and frustration
- Email blunders
- Social media hype
- There are setbacks in personal connections
- Communications turn confusing and erratic
- Travel plans don’t work well
- On the brighter side, we tend to reflect and make necessary changes to make our lives happier
- It’s said that intuition is high during these periods.
- Coincidences may amaze you during this phase.
Mercury becomes retrograde three to four times a year — this is more than any other planet in our solar system does. Retrogression gets the planet closer to the Earth and thus the planet is in better position to influence us more. In 2022, Mercury will get retrograde for four times, which means that we will experience major cosmic shifts and changes throughout the year.
A brief about Retrograde Motion
The astronomical explanation for retrograde motion begins with understanding that all planets in our solar system orbit the Sun at different speed and distances. Sometimes, it can appear (from our perspective) that a planet has suddenly switched directions and has started to move in reverse across the sky.
This is, of course, an illusionary state caused by the position of Earth in relation to that of the planet, since a planet in orbit always moves in specified direction and can’t abruptly take reverse course. This is why we call the phenomenon apparent retrograde motion, as it only seems or looks like but doesn’t happen actually!
What one should do when Mercury is Retrograde?
We already know that the planet Mercury signifies communication in all forms—writing, listening, reading, and speaking etc. As well as all other activities that are closely associated with communication, like negotiations and contracts. It also rules travel, automobiles, shipping, and e-mail.
So, when a planet is retrograde it actually takes more time to finish a job. When Mercury is retrograde, we should be prepared to remain flexible, patient, and understanding.
We should permit some extra hours for travel, and avoid signing onto any new documents or contracts that you’re unsure of. One should be doubly assured of e-mail responses as well as reservations at hotels must be checked twice before you go on a trip.
Reviewing projects and plans during this phase is beneficial. We advise you to wait until Mercury is direct again to make any final decisions. Life can’t be stopped, but plan ahead, have back-up plans, and set your mood for shorter fuses and miscommunication of individuals around you.
Take a Moment to Reflect
You will find many blaming Mercury retrograde for all chaos happening in their lives. However, this is a good time to take a back seat and review how you are taking life? Where your energy is going?
For example, if family keeps importance for you then are you investing enough energy and time into your family or have you become over obsessed with your career or a hobby? Losing the balance between varied parts of your life can cause sufferings to all of them, so being aware of the connections between them—especially during period of Mercury retrograde may help you maintain balance and importance of it.
Take a moment to reflect. It is an excellent time to take a back step and reanalyze who you are and where are you going—but avoid making any drastic changes until retrogression has ended and Mercury comes in direct motion.
