An apprehension seems to have been created that large calamities are bound to fall upon the globe during the last year of the present century. However I wish to state below substantially that there need be no real anxiety whatsoever on this count. (A) Vedic Mode We are running the 28th year of the 1st Pada of this Manu namely Viwaswasta, which is the 7th Manu under this Brahma, with seven more yet to come. The duration of this Kaliyuga is 432000 years of which just about 5000 and odd years are over. That the earth will culminate in the next few years is just whimsical thinking. (B) Numerology Numerology gives an apprehensive and broad based insight upon any endeavor during a certain period. Although different systems of years are being used currently, the Global denomination has been the "A.D. of Christ", which would be 1999 next year. Predictions given below are accordingly based upon this numeral. The triple nine which adds up to 27 is prefixed by number 1. The number 1 indicates Sun- the life giver while number 2 and 7 represent the Moon and Ketu, both dealing with intellect and enlightenment. This clearly indicates that during the year 1999 global wisdom will prevail upon the world over towards enhancement of better life on earth. No. 9 represents Mars and is frequently related to any feud or war. However, Mars basically represents dynamism, which, if not properly utilised, leads to rashness and self-destruction. No. 9 , 18, 27 all have Mars as the main propeller, but in varied directions. The far western side of the globe i.e. America and European countries are among the first to get illumination during the year. However, the mid hemisphere i.e. the Gulf countries, Russia, Afghanistan etc. would not be so fortunate. There would be consistent threatening activities, perhaps leading to the brink of war in these regions, which however would be curtailed by enviromental forces. The eastern hemisphere, including Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Australia etc., stand to gain the most and the trend here would be to give more thought to individual development more than towards war. However, here activities such as terrorism would prevail in mid 1999, but would subside thereafter. With basically energetic and fiery planets operating, volcanic eruptions, global heating, high tidal forces, flood and drought prevailing alternately could take a large chunk of worldly resources, especially in the first half of the year. However, food and agriculture products would take an upward lift in the latter part of the year. Industrial production in all spheres, especially electrical, electronic, automobile, medicines relating to generation, weapons etc. will see an upward trend. (C) Astrological India : The year dawns with the Kanya Lagna, propelled by Sun and with Mars in its own constellation aspecting the Sun in the 4th house. The Moon is also driven by Mars - the lord of the Mrigasherisha. This Nakshatra is renownwed for propagation of self realisation and worldy peace. The combinations clearly collaborate the numerological predictions given above. The Jupiter/Saturn aspect upon the second house shows a trend towards auspicious and spiritual thinking, which will be accelerated with Jupiter's entrance into Meena and aspecting Mercury - the lord of the Lagna. It is around August-September 1999 when the retrograde Saturn/Jupiter in Mesha would cause stimulation to natural calamities, but the year end would see a more promising output especially in the agricultural field. People who are prone to secrecy, suspicion and corruption would be under heavy stress during the year. Accidents are also a field of anxiety, mainly in the moving vehicular line i.e. trains, aeroplanes, cars etc. The sunrise in India sees the Moon in Mithuna, carrying high Ashtakvarga Bindus in totality and Sun, Jupiter and Saturn each having high Ashtakvarga strength themselves. India would see new technologies in the agricultural field and in food and food processing equipments. Industrial Production : The trend of industrial production is very bright, especially electronic goods, textiles, foot wear, computer technology and computers. There would be ample commercial transactions in these fields the world over. Ketu propelled by Mars would ensure right direction i.e. transactions for constructive purposes only. Economic : In spite of the overall bright output mentioned above, input resources for development would still be under heavy stress, partially due to natural calamities and accidents and secondly due to misuse and corruption. The vitality of the Indian people needs reactivation, if the available fruits are to be fully absorbed. Laziness seems to be rampant. However, Mars/Saturn combination at the onset will help to improve trade practices. Education : There would be dynamic change in the educational mode around April/May, 1999 which would be definitely for the better. Defence : There need be no real apprehension in this regard. Overcoming internal violence would be the attention of the governing authorities than of external insurgence. Earthquakes, floods and drought in northern and central India, would essentially require the aid of defence personnel. Health : Health is the wealth of the country. Water prone diseases and food infected diseases need deep attention during the year. Poverty ridden population will not fall in sight of the governments vision so easily during the year. The World In general, the western world will face heavy setback in the field of learning and would have to fall back on the eastern world in this sphere. However, food stability and trade, especially in garments, ornaments, luxurious goods, vehicular, machinery etc. would be on the increase. United Kingdom would be facing problems to stabilize the home front. Peace and harmonious living would be lacking in and around this country during this year. Wisdom is hardcoming in the west and the Clinton regime would be under heavy stress, if not breakdown. Progress in material fields would relatively slow down. It is the Australian continent where the planetary blessings are the highest. Food and milk products will be in abundance in this region. There will be a substantial change in the Japanese outlook in trade practices and spiritual growth. There appears to be a lingering fear that has gripped this nation, the effect of which will be visible during 1999. Earthquakes in this region would be rampant. Conclusion :
